Tonight I went to Creve Couer Lake to have a midnight stroll with some friends. This lake is right by my apartment and I go there all the time. There is a sign up stating that the lake (and all other parks in the county) close 1/2 hour after sunset. I figured that this was one of those lax rules that nobody really paid attention to unless kids were smoking weed by the lake or something.
As it turns out walking around the lake after dark can get you arrested. My friends and I got carded and luckily we all had out-of-state licences so we could pretend like we didn't know what was going on.
But the point remains, that cop had just arrested four people for being at the lake after dark. For just being there. We got pretty damn lucky, but I still think that it is total BS for being at a park after dark to be an arrestable offense. I imagine next they'll impose a curfew on everyone and force us to pass what we blog about through their Orwellian filter.
I hate to use the word fascist..but that's what it struck me as.
